Imagine: A #Marine who retired after serving 25 years. He has been overseas many times, and has faced a lot of scary situations. However, he managed to retire without a scratch.
Now, he watches his young daughter almost lose her life after being admitted into the hospital with ‘flue-like’ symptoms.
Doing all they can to save her, they induce a coma, block off the blood flow to her limbs, and flood her body with antibiotics. After being in the hospital for 3 weeks, they pull her from the coma. She has no recollection of time or how long she has been in the hospital, and wakes to the news of the doctors having to amputate her feet as a result of the actions needed to be taken to save her life. And now she looks at losing one of her arms, possibly both.
While she is doing much better now, and finally off of the ventilator, the new battle they are facing is the financial burden this has placed on the family.

Imagine: One day you’re at your sisters bridal shower. Everything is fine. You’re excited your sisters big day is finally coming. A few days later you’re not feeling well and have a high fever. By the time you get checked into the hospital the doctors see that this mysterious infection in your body is so bad it has caused you to go septic. You are teetering on the edge of life or death.
The doctors decide that in order to save your life they need to induce a come, cut off circulation to your limbs and flush your body with antibiotics in hopes to save all vital organs. You’re on a ventilator, receiving dialysis treatments through an artery in your neck. The doctors, and your family, are scared you’re not going to make it.
Your baby just wants his mommy back, and after 3 weeks of separation is starting to become very fussy.
You wake from this coma, having no idea that 3 weeks has gone by and you’ve been in the hospital that long. After making sure you’re coherent the doctors proceed to tell you they are going to have to amputate both of your feet from the lower calf on down, and possibly both arms….
