I openly admit that most of my crafts are failures. My DIY projects rarely become anything I want to show anyone. Of all the projects that I’ve done, my biggest success to date is my Pallet Garden. OH! And my DIY Sidewalk Paint. Another success I’m proud of. Beyond that, though… eh let’s move on.
So Christmas just rolled around, and I usually like to try and do a little something for the neighbors that I am friends with. Nothing big, because I don’t want to get into one of those situations where you do something for someone so they do for your back out of feeling obligated. No, I just like to do a little something that doesn’t take a lot of effort, but I know will be enjoyed. Cookies are always on the list. I mean, cookies are easy and I’m already making a ton of them anyway. This year, though, I wanted my neighbors’ gifts to have a little bit of a theme, which was about pampering themselves. That’s when I got the idea of making a homemade body scrub.
I knew the 1 base ingredient of a scrub was oil, so I did my research on what oils were best to use on the skin and the two choices I liked best were coconut oil, and sweet almond oil. So? I bought both. However, it was the scrubs that I made with the sweet almond oil that I gave to the neighbors. You see, if you’re not familiar with coconut oil then you may not know that unless warmed, coconut oil stays in solid form. I wasn’t sure if my neighbors were familiar with it or not, so I decided to make a body scrub that didn’t require instructions. Plus, sweet almond oil better absorbs into the skin. I kept the batch I made with coconut oil for myself.
So here’s the recipe I came up with:
- 2 cups ground coffee (I used a dark roast for an extra bold aroma)
- 2 tbs salt
- 2/3 cup sweet almond oil (or coconut oil warmed to liquid form)
- 2 tsp cinnamon (or a few drops of any flavor essential oil you wish)
Stir it all together, and you have your very own homemade coffee body scrub. I put the scrub I have to the neighbors in some jelly jars that I had washed out and saved. My coconut oil based scrub I put in a Ball mason jar.
This stuff? Fabulous! I am in love with it. Coffee makes for an excellent exfoliate, and if you love the smell of coffee then you’re going to love it as a pampering treatment for yourself.
I can’t wait to try another DIY body scrub recipe.

Not sure anything about this is bad!
I hope you do try, you ladies will love it. Promise!!
amazing!!! I am going to try this!!
Thanks
MUST TRY! I am obsessed with coffee, and well as a body scrub, I think I’d be in heaven!!!
That looks amazing, must try!
Great questions!
The almond oil I found at Wal-Mart where you find all the other regular oil.
The grind that I used was the same that I use for brewing. So you can either get a regular bag of your favorite bag of coffee, or if you buy beans grind it on a medium to fine grind. Course might get uncomfortable.
This sounds AWESOME! My skin gets so flaky this time of year. Where do you get the almond oil? What kind of grind did you use for the coffee?
