On the 23rd, SC Johnson’s SHOUT! is asking families to ‘Unplug and Play’ for the weekend.
Meaning? Put down the electronics and have some good ol’ fun with your family. Disconnect from the social media and tech world, and reconnect with your own family. I think this is a great idea, and I am personally going to take the pledge to Unplug and Play.
What will we do?
Well, like a lot of military families deployment is on the horizon for us. However, before that comes all the training and field ops that creates the ‘home but not home’ saga. That is actually starting for us tomorrow morning. Field ops, then home briefly, then out again for training, then home… you get the picture. We’re actually not planning on seeing much of Mr.SemperFi until Thanksgiving. Lucky for us one of those home briefly moments will happen, very briefly, this weekend. We’re going to make the most of it. Grilling outside, a trip to the park, kicking the soccer ball in the backyard, finger painting and doodling on the driveway with sidewalk chalk are the majority of things I have on my list of to-do’s. If we’re lucky we’ll have two full days with Mr.SemperFi. The trick is to plan fun things to do, but also make sure we get some relax time together since I know he’s going to be very busy while he’s away.
So there it is, my pledge to Unplug and Play from September 23rd to the 25th. Will you join me?
